Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in theatre and live music events in the lighting world?
If so, Gonzo Youth Theatre are holding a practical day long course to give you some hands on experience. You will be introduced to the principles and equipment used in the lighting world for theatre and live music as well as special effects. This course will be led by head of Lighting at Gonzo theatre, Dmitri McEvoy.
On the day the event will explore the aims of lighting for the stage for Theatre. You’ll be introduced to the lighting equipment and kit used in theatres and explore how to use colours, angles and shadows in a lighting design. You will also be a part of setting up a small show so you can get an inside and hands on experience of what goes into putting on a show from start to finish. At the end of the day you will have a full lighting setup ready for a scene with special effects to add the extra finish to the day.
The course is perfect for beginners and people involved in amateur or school productions who wish to gain a better insight into the world of theatre and live music and prospective students who are considering becoming technical theatre managers as a career in the future.
Course tutor, Dmitri McEvoy has worked in theatres, arenas, and stadiums for over 6 years specialising in lighting. He has worked across multiple platforms including tv, festivals, arenas, concerts, and Theatres. His previous role as a stage manager for festivals from a supervisor in 3 arenas to chief lighting director for Gonzo Youth Theatre for the past 3 years give him a wide view in the entertainment industry.
